For the people who like my music, I apologize once again for my lack of releases and internet absence. I can at least offer an update on what's going down.

The Old & Currently Leaving

My muscle disorder (whatever it is officially or un-officially) has gotten no better.
It's always worst in the winter but last year I didn't get much of a break between seasons. I've tried a few different meds' and remedies...so far nothing is working. What's worst is I'm suffering from heavy depression.

When I create my music, that usually handles my depression or anything that bothers me, period. But with the pain being as frequent as it is thru-out my entire body (....I actually miss when only my arms, thigh muscles and right shoulder only burned), it's hard to be creative when some part of your body is burning on the inside out...I hate the pulse ones. (The "burning-like-pain" feeling comes in and out to the pattern of my heart-beat)

Writing my songs is a struggle. It all involves pain. I can drop a project right this second completely filled with painful recordings and depression. I don't want to spread that...I want to spread out soulful hippie music...or 420 music. Just music with soul in general. A honest pain song is good for occasions, but not an entire 12-tracks or so project of them.

The only thing that hasn't completely stopped is my beat-making. Though, it has slowed down a lot compared to my old routine. I'm use to making 2-3 beats a day, if not a little more depending on the vibes or the project. Now, it's completely random. I'm lucky if I can make 1 beat a day now.

Sadly to say, it looks like the weed is the only thing that keeps the little creation that is happening....and I don't like that. Granted, I've made certain beats that I fell in love w/ while smacked, but I've also made more than a few gems sober. Then to add to that, I'm not one of those "get high and rap" artists....I've tried more than a few times to write and record while smacked. I come off so ignorant that I may as well write for Wiz Kahlifa...or however you spell his name. If it was important, I would of simply googled it.

The New & In Progress
I'm trying to figure out my next move in doing something about the pain. I'm not for medical-test that cause pain. I have a fear of electrocution and one of the test involves that. I backed out the last appointment...during that appointment I was in heavy pain and the thought of more pain made me have an "episode". Might have to go back to the Vicodin route...standard pain relievers were/are not an option.

On the depression note, I am self aware....which is a good thing, actually doing things to help. I've cut down my smoking to 2 blunts a day. One for when I wake up in pain if needed, one after work or before I go to sleep to help ignore the pain while trying to go to sleep. Hopefully this will also bring my tolerance down. Lately, I've been needing the top-shelf heavy grade just to catch a buzz. Mid-grade hasn't been a option for 5 years now, so no. I'm not messing with low-grade, just too use to the high-grade.

Changes at home...won't speak on that until it happens but I'm excited. Big changes work for me for some reason. Or maybe I just really want this one and specially at this time. It also benefits my recording (my original Danger Room VA will be online again). I also get the chance to help out with my mother and her home on a full basis. I'm looking forward to this change. That and I want to help my mother to be a bit more happier. I hate what she has had to deal with. Both from life and what I've brought to the table. And me hiding in the shadows of my pain and depression hasn't help anything as well.

......spent an hour and some change typing this and it ain't even 1/2 of what I have to get off my chest. Maybe I'll add a continue tomorrow after work.

Didn't Completely Waste 2011 Pt.1

While I didn't do what I intended to do far as my vocal/lyrical project releases this year, I did manage to put in work on the production side. See, with making beats...I can do that whenever, however I'm feeling. But writing and recording...I have to be at least in a peaceful mood rather the depression mood that lingers over my head in the state of VA(see;last post).

Anyway, through the different med-treatments and pain & depression relapses of this year, I did knock out a few beats that were worth picking up by other artists.

I've liked Nate's many different flows since I 1st heard him on a Charles Hamilton project in 2008. I've supported the guy on the internet for about 2 years, and during that time the homie accepted a few beats.
Now, I'mma keep it real in these next few lines. Yung Nate's style has changed from what I was diggin' originally and a lot of what he do doesn't match my style of production...at least that's my opinion. 'Nate can black on a lot of my stuff...but the ones I hear him blacking on, he doesn't usually pick. 'Nate is on that cali-feel-good-clean-sound type music.....while I'm on my deep-gritty-soul-'96-99-music Downfall to different vibes of creativity but understandable and respectable. That's still the homie and he is good-peoples a long with being talented. I once told 'Nate, "just thank me in the album creds, that's all I need." He replies..." you can't eat a thank you my g.">

Where's The Music?

When...

...after the sound is perfected...which isn't much longer (in between work and pain moments...which has increased again. It usually does when it gets colder.)

A co-worker-turned-good-friend (shout out to Wade) is moving to Rocklin, California and has offered me to come along and chip in on the home w/ his long time friend. It would be great for my music and my muscle disorder.
*Music ...I truly believe the core source of my depression besides the pain, is me living in Manassas, Virginia. I've had some of the worst things happen to me hear and I have a special type of hatred for the people here. I know the power behind the word hatred and I don't use it loosely. When I went on my short vacation to Louisiana last month, the second I got back home in VA and walked in the house, I started uncontrollably crying. Not something I like to admit as it can be took as a sign of weakness...but it is what it is, that's what happen.
When I was in ATL last winter, the music was cranking at a high output rate and writing/recording became fun. Soon as I moved back to VA, it stopped.
*Pain ...all I'm saying is I will be in the best place to relieve my body and mind from pain when I need to. Medical card, my friends hehe.

No offense to my mother because she's been there for me when I've giving her reason not to w/ my anger responses and what have you. But I need to find a life for myself where I can be at least a little happy and I don't feel like decisions are forced on me. I feel like there is a big dark cloud over me when I'm in Virginia.

Should I even bother to explain the disappearing act? A year that I claimed early on, that it would be mine along w/ a flood of EP's, projects and what have you. It always resorts back to the same answer/excuse. Muscle pain, stacked under heavy depression.
So he's back again (this "Gambitt" guy)...what's different.

A rebound from depression, a stop to anti-depressant medicine that were making my situation even worst. A visit back home to Louisiana that gave me a bit of my sanity back. Confidence in the music I crafted while m.i.a.

I ain't saying what I'm gonna do, just hold on.

#Shout out to Gee-Wiz and Signif. Good people, real good people. Also, never a dull moment w/ them two.

Planned on having everything ready by last Wednesday but as usual my job and my muscle disorder messed up my schedule. I got tomorrow and Sunday off, I'm setting everything up starting tonight when I get off from work.

Finding My Way Back...

I hate admitting this but I've managed to lose myself within the last 3 months.
The regular doctor visits followed by constant every day pain, visits that lead to more pain, problems and stress. The only thing it didn't give me more of is hope of a cure.

All the meds that I've tried have done nothing for the pain. My main doctor wants to focus on anti-depressant meds...which kills my music vibes completely. The last time I was on anti-depressants I became a zombie as my mother would say and I honestly thought that I had grown tired of creating music. Even got to the point where I removed all my programs and software that were music related. After a week, I stopped the meds and in 2 days I was back to creating music again.(after the 2 hours it took me to re-install everything smh).

One of my other doctors that was recommended to me wants to run an attack of tests and all are deemed painful. I have a problem w/ tests causing pain instead of helping to find the problem. I was told it was less than a 50% chance of the test revealing anything......fuck that, I'm good.

At that point I honestly completely lost myself into the weed. It wasn't fixing the pain, but it was the only thing that would help me ignore it. What I didn't predict was the backlash of depression that came w/ it. I work for a delivery company and my body does not give a fuck when I'm working when it starts hurting. So it's like either I have to smoke before I go into work or immediately afterwards. Most smokers wouldn't mind...but I smoke for different reasons unfortunately.

It's different smoking chronic for pain instead of socially or "for kicks".
I'm the only person I know that smokes so that the burning pain doesn't force me to do something stupid. I am not trying to fall back into the suicide realm I was in 3 years ago before I started making beats.

Since my recent faze, I've not been on the internet as much except for a quick visit on twitter or facebook. Damn near forgot about the blog(I'm sorry for those who do check my blog, I became extremely anti-social). I can say the only thing that really woke me up was when I got on facebook last week and one of my peoples told me that the homie Show(Show TuFli)released a promo video and my production was behind the song. Once I seen the video, self re-programming started.

The music is alive...for the most part. I've still been working on my projects on and off. The only issues is the pain mixed w/ the weed abuse has forced out a rather depressing sound. I'm keeping what sounds hot and replacing the deep-negative tunes.

Sent some new beats to Signif yesterday...I was announced as being part of the new album's productin which is in progress for September. Working on some more gems for her in the next few minutes.

My EP's will be released, enough said.

No more beat-tapes...time to move forward.

If the EP's are rejected...I'll possible continue the "Soultape beat-tape series".

New EP's On The Way...

In the last 3 months, my music world has been spinning into a huge mess. Old styles aging into completion. New styles building, learning specific traits from the based styles both beat-making and lyrical smh whatever, those last 2 sentences was confusing enough.

Instead of forcing all styles into one project I started to split them up into separate projects and EP's. All of this happen mainly while working on the "Medicated EP" ...which is 50% done w/ no date. It's hard to force out a certain sound...and I don't believe in force in regards to creativity. But to ignore positive results even though it did not equal the original aim would be ignorant of myself. I'm using this post to layout the game plan for the summer, introducing the new line up of EP's and more. It's about to be a nasty summer...musically of course.

I originally started on the project to have something to smoke to on the date of 4/20 but then it got serious. My "eliminate everyone, the world is my to destroy" music vibes. Sometimes I have moments where I want to make the world pay for the person I've turned into. A mad, sociopath-like person who hates the idea of society and people's closed mindedness that gives society a negative out look to new ideas or previous old ideas that actually help people instead of harm them. I'm more of "letting the project build itself" than actually focusing on it. But when those tracks line-up, it when fall under the "EWGF" label. Electric Wind God Fist, is a fictional martial-art move resembling an "lightening-fast-uppercut" created for the video-game character, Kazuya Mishima of the Tekken fighting series. Kazuya is a fighter who sold his soul as a child to a devil like entity in order to survive a death-fall off of a mountain that his father threw him from. He grows up to be heartless and climbs to a position of power to take over the world. Often, Kazuya has to fight for full control of his body with his "devil gene" counter part. I compare that to my muscle pain I have to fight with...and when I am losing against the pain I become very angry. I think and perform aggressive and violent actions that I wouldn't do other wise. This is where my One-8 alias popped up from. Kazuya, a Japanese name means "one-eight" in English translation.

How are all of y'all doing these days?
Me?....it is what it is. Pain hasn't been as bad but when it does flair up, it's another story. I'm guessing the warmer weather is helping...except it keeps changing.

I've been quiet as hell lately but the music hasn't been as quiet. I'm going to release the "Music Colored Red" project this week with Justin. Just gotta clean up one more song and then maybe add one new bonus joint...a track from me maybe.

I'm going to start recording again today. I got certain beats I've been working on that I will finally dig into today.

Mastering The Art Of Jazz

Lately I been doing some digital-crate-digging in the Smooth-Jazz and Trance genres. I'm picky about all my music but real picky when it comes to Jazz artists. So far Paul Hardcastle hasn't disappointed me.

He's a English composer and musician, specialising in synthesizers and has a mass amount of music projects ranging from 1984 into the recent months. I've just counted 25 projects that I know of. I've been really zoning into the The Jazzmasters series.

Here's one of the tracks from the "Desire" album that was released this year. One of my favorites....I sampled it but I haven't finished the beat yet...feels like something is missing from it. Ah well, it'll hit me sooner or later.

Pain In Stereo

Since November, this disorder of mine has been more active than what I would consider normal. It's difficult to control the output of your creativity when your in pain during most of those sessions...it seems to curve in a certain direction, a certain sound. For the last few months I've been shelving those particular results, not sending them to anyone to record or even sharing w/ my circle of listeners.

This project is put together of beats that I've made in the past 4-5 months that were created while I was under some high level of pain from my muscle disorder. I'm taking a chance by release this project, mainly because it's 1/2 left-field as hell. If what they say is true about good music coming from the soul, well...I tried.

Getting Back Into The Groove

So it's March. Got two doc appointments this month. I'm getting tired of the doctor visits but I have to do what I have to, I suppose. The only meds' I'm on are Vicodin's and medical 4:20...of course. Getting back into my music rotation as of late. I have a lot to catch up on.

I had plan to been have the "Music Colored Red" project done. I was going to add-on to the project...like some new solo-tracks from me but I'm going to keep it all Justin far as lyricist w/ an appearance here and there verse wise. Mixing and production is all me though.

Reason that I didn't want to add some solo-tracks to the project is...well...
1.) It was originally a "Justin Allen" project anyway.
2.) I don't feel right by adding myself w/out the physical presence of the homie Justin. Granted, he said for me to do me but nah....it doesn't feel right.
3.) The songs I've been working on fit my "Medicated" project that I want finish 4 days before 4:20

Speaking of the "Medicated" project...I hope for the people who felt the "Don't Say I Didn't Warn U" project was a dark project don't get the "Medicated" project confused for the same thing. "Medicated" sounds nothing like "Don't Say I Didn't Warn U"...production, mixing, content or flow wise. It's a smoker project....a southern smoker project. I think I will make my home-state proud.(Louisiana)

I believe that was actually my biggest mistake w/ "Don't Say I Didn't Warn U"....I purposely made it an anti-southern sound. Why? I wanted that underground aggression. I forced a direction. I won't make that mistake. Granted, "DSIDWU" isn't a horrible project...but admittedly the only time I listen to it is on accident and then I be like "...this doesn't sound as bad as I remember it". I want to finish something that will give me that excitement upon finishing it.

My blog has been flat-line lately. I'll explain why in the next post. Any visitors that want to drop me a link to their blogs, feel free to. I only visit about 6 blogs these days because people have been disappearing....like myself.

Paralyze The Pain, Not My Soul.

1st, shoutouts to Digs, EOP and LMK for your comments on the last post. I appreciate y'all a bunch!

I went back to my doctor this morning. The Elavil medicine didn't do a damn thing for pain after 2 weeks of taking it. It kept draining me and putting me to sleep while making me depress. It was also a depressant...but most depressants do the exact opposite when taken by a person who is not depressed. smh ugh, anyway. I couldn't get the vibe to do music at all. I tried forcing it...nothing....420 a few times....nothing. I actually started thinking I lost interest in music but I was just in zombie-mode from the meds...which was all the time.

So...I'm on no meds right now. I have to wait a week for my tests to come back on my liver and then my doc is going to prescribe me a low dose of Vicodin. I also have an appointment to see a pain specialist next month. So at least actions are being made to get this disorder controlled...whatever form it may be. All thanks to my mother:)

Speaking of my mother, she found a medicine called LDN, but not all major medical companies are prescribing it. Mom...being the resourceful person she is...got some shipped from India and is trying it out for herself. I'm going to next to see if anything happens before I get my Vicodin script.

After I stopped taking the Elavil 2 days ago, the music vibe came back. I think I'm still shaking off the meds a bit but each day I feel more energetic. Now I can return to these projects. I got a lot of catching up to do.

Paralyzed Soul

The last two weeks have been rough. My muscle disorder...rather it may be Fibromyalgia or some other kind...has been very active. I don't know if it's the sudden weather change far as the snow, the wind, the cold air itself or if my muscles just like fucking w/ me. Whatever it is, it needs to end.

I've been going to the doctor as of late...thanks to my mother (I love you) to finally get this problem neutralized as much as possible. I might have a lever problem but I'm banking it was from all the Tylenols I was taking for the night pain that wouldn't let me sleep. Far as the muscle problem, not much has been found out but my Doc has put me on some meds for it...Amitriptyline or Elavil. I got them Friday morning and so far it hasn't done anything for pain. It has no problems knocking me to sleep though. It also leaves me feeling drained. If it wasn't for the neighbors blasting Spanish music...the kind when every beat is the exact same fucking pattern(hi-kick,low-kick,high-kick,low,kick)...I would of stayed knocked out for most of the day. Oddly enough I had to "420" just to get my balance back. I'm suppose to give my body a while to get use to the meds, so it's too early to judge.

But it has made music-production harder within just two days. I feel like I'm chained & bound by the medication(hence, the pic above). Mind you, the meds are suppose to be an anti-depressant & a relief for chronic pain....none of that shit has happen yet. Have you ever seen or known someone who was diagnosed with A.D.D. and then was prescribed Ritalin? And once the Ritalin is taken, the person seems like someone has stolen their active energy. Yea, kinda of feeling like that...just drained.

I hope this smooths out soon...I still have a beat-folder I'm finishing up for Signif and the "Music Colored Red" project w/ Justin. Both are very close to being complete. So...if these meds keep draining me down I'll just "420" my balance back and get to work. After burning one earlier tonight I managed to get 3 beats done.

Ahh, my left ear just kicked back in. Yesterday after I took my 1st pill from the meds, my left ear got damn near def...and it just suddenly un-plugged itself...*shrugs*...it works now, fuck it.

Been trying to keep the blog as active as possible. But just know any time that I'm quiet...it usually means I'm head-deep into finishing music....my other medicine.

The Story
The Beginning ...I met Justin when I was about 17 or 18...he being 15 or 16 at the time while I was in the process of moving back and forth to Virginia from Louisiana. We had a few friends in common and I would always see the dude in the mall either working or walking around pushing out his CD's he was recording back then (I still have one of the original discs some where). So we never really got the time to kick it and hang out but we always had that "hustler's respect" for each other on the times we did meet. Back then I wasn't into beats, I was into doing my chopped & screwed mixes so we didn't have a common ground with music yet. 5 + years later after I moved and then he also moved back to New York, we finally met again thru another mutual friend. At that time I was just getting my beats to sound the way I wanted them to and a week later Justin became the 1st artist to record over one of my beats. His ears heard what I wasn't able to because I hadn't did anything serious yet...so in a way I owe him for that. Some of my production appeared on past projects of his after that day...then the idea of an EP came up.

A year later ...after a few unrelated things happen we got to talking about having Justin come out from NY to VA at my crib to start working on a project completely produced by me. Shit...like a month later the guy shows up one night and we got started. 3 weeks was the recording period and then he shot back out to NY. Justin and I kind of had different ways of looking at the project far as the finishing touch. Finally we decided he would release his version and I would release mine. Instead, my version(Reflections:Cajun Soul Version) sat in the vault because I wasn't sure of it and Justin just used a few songs for a promo disc he was running.

Recently ... while knocking out my "Don't Say I Didn't Warn U" project I've went back to the vault. The project with Justin sounds...better. I've had this happen with certain beats...it's as if they need to mature before being release to the public. A long with that I had finally got an idea good enough for the project that it was worth going in with.....

Music Colored Red
...Justin and I dig the same color...which is red. We agreed that the color red stands out and it says so much...passion, anger, love, aggression, attitude, etc...so does the music in this project.
Spoke w/ Justin a week ago...he's excited about it. The way I'm mixing it will be different but it may be the way I will continue to go. Nothing over board or too major...just stepping my level up. Going to flood the net with it before the end of the month. Previews coming soon :)

Most of the beats on this tape were original made for the vocal project but either the idea I had didn't work out the way I wanted or whatever else. But the beats on their own sound nice enough to not throw in the "why bother to use" folder of beats.

Man...where do I start...
The feedback I've gotten from the "DontSayIDidntWarnU" project has been shocking. A lot of new people have reached out and shared what they thought of it. Nothing negative has been spoken....but tomorrow I will address what I think I need to work on. The support is overwhelming...I don't even know how to properly show my appreciation, I just hope everyone at least has an idea of it.

My Favorite Track Of 2010

To be honest...their hasn't been a whole lot of anything that came out this year in the regards of Hip-Hop that blew me away other than underground projects. It's depressing for some one like myself who grew up on mid-90's Hip-Hop and then to hear what we are force to listen to. The light at the end of the tunnel finally got brighter when Joe Budden released his "Mood Muzik 4: A Turn 4 The Worst" last October. Not the best of the Mood Muzik series but a great add-on. Along with good lyricism, Joey has those deep thought breaking tracks. I suppose it depends on the listener if those tracks will effect you or not.

The track below is one of my favorites to have been introduced to my headphones.

People are getting together and planning out their new year's event. Speaking about the good & bad times of 2010 rather it be personal memories, events that has happen in the neighborhood, city, state, country....the world. The news, the arts, the failures, the successes of such.

.....I'm going thru folders of beats, tracks, mixes, everything that is digital piece to a form of music. The process of putting together an attack-like string of project releases. Somewhere in that process "SoultapeLvL6: Tape Noise(beat-tape)" came about.
LvL6 has my underground hard snares, hard kicks, gritty sample sound. There is a certain that I'm mixing it...trying to give it that legit "beats played from a tape" sound without crashing the the total quality. It has been working out great to be honest. I'm banking on releasing this near the end of January..

1/01/11....I finally release my "DontSayIDidntWarnU" project...then the attack of beat-tapes will go into effect.

The Sound Of '96

Got the new Ghostface Killah album..."Apollo Kids".
I love this CD. This is the hip-hop I miss...that late 90's hardcore street sound with the heavy soul-samples, crisps snares, gritty kicks...the feel alone is a style of it's own(...hey, maybe I should use that last line as a bar in a verse lol).

"Apollo Kids" is the resurrection of the infamous Wu-Tang sound. And is also proof that the sound is age-less. Doesn't sound dated or anything, just refreshing.

Maybe I feel this way because of my own sound(kinda '96-ish) but judge for yourself.
"Drama" featuring Joell Ortiz & Game is one of my favorite tracks from the album. Joell attacks the beat as usual, something crazy while Game does his damage but the homie is sounding a bit too much like the homie Nas in my opinion.

Last night was a rather epic painful night in regards to my muscle problems. But I manage to be a little productive. This year while working on a few different projects (some released, some have yet to be released) some how I've managed to build a collection of beats that weren't used for anything. I think I've deleted maybe three out of the 30+ that I found and forgot about. The three that I deleted were crap...bad experiments that some how managed to get exported out of FL Studio 9. The other beats however were good...worth sharing. So they became apart of separate beat-tapes that I'm sitting on for 2011.

This particular beat-tape that I designed the cover above for has become a personal favorite. "SoultapeLvL7: Pain In Stereo" is a collection of beats that I've made while in a high level of physical pain because of my muscle disorder. At some points it has a dark sound, at other points it's like a signal for help. I'm going to release that project on February 11th, 2011.

There's another beat-tape that I managed to put together..."SoultapeLvL6"...but at the moment I have no explanation for it. The vibe that tape has is...I don't know. It sounds nice though.

2011 I'm going to do my best to release at least one beat-tape a month. 2012 I will retired the "Soultape" series until further notice.

Finding it...odd that a few people have shown interest in me finishing my vocal project. *shrugs* I mean, it will be what it will be but confidence wise I'm not on some "it's gonna be amazing" or whatever hype that most artists spill about their music. All I can truly say is that I'm not taking my time for nothing. I didn't want to just throw anything out there and label my name on it. I've could of been put out a project early this year with the songs I had finish but I tell you this.....garbage it would of been. Based on my flow at the time, my delivery...and my selection on beats that I wanted to use and how I wanted to pin them out.

Two of my people's should be making an surprised feature...I'mma chill on that for now.

Just Keeping It Moving...

Finally got me a job. I got to roll to orientation in a few hours...oddly enough I can not sleep. On the side I've just been making beats and sending them out to certain artists. Trying to make the name (Gambitt4Aces) familiar online far as being credited as a producer.

Trying to see if I can have this vocal-project finished in the 1st week of December. I've been so concern with making beats that I've kinda let my project collect dust in it's own little corner of my hard-drive. The question is what do I want from this project?...I not even sure to be honest. I'm not doing it to get any type of rap-credit far as being an emcee...which I'm not. I'm an beatsmith to the core...it's just by accident I can rap decent...at least better than what I hear on random occasions from outside sources. Awaken By Pain At 3:11 am

Went to sleep at 12am last night/this morning...whatever. Waiting for these pm pills to knock me back to sleep and for this DMSO medicine to kick it that I got in the mail earlier this week.(thanx, mom. love you)

While I'm up I'm thinking of other ways to spread this music out far as the internet route. Not with the beat-tapes but for my vocal-rap-project that I've been taking my time on. Using the bandcamp.com to host it is one of the things I will do. The whole "datpiff.com" mixtape website is also a route but I doubt it will be helpful...but I will still do it. I need to find more hip-hop sites or blogs that are willing to post music from artists who are not signed...and that are actually good of course. I wouldn't try to spread this project out if it wasn't my best effort. For the fact I'm not doing for attention to get a deal...for more of a fact I would be extremely pissed if I got looked at for rapping instead of my production craft. Sign me a production deal anytime...I am not a rapper. My lyrical art is my hobby and I'm willing to share to anyone who likes my taste in music.

Since the beginning of this year I've been honing my rapping craft. Admittedly I don't feel that I'm as good in rapping as I am in making beats. On the positive note of things outside opinions say that I am. One thing I am sure of is that the quality is superb. My mixing ability has surpass the "Accept My Sound" results...specially with the new studio setup I've created recently. Padded booth and all. M-Audio mic of course (the makers of Pro Tools). My lyrics are pass rookie level...not surprising being that I've been writing since I was the age of 11...just was too shy to come out with it openly. One of my people's people said I was a lyrical-weaver after hearing my "Black&Mild Muzik" track...meaning I knit many rhyme patterns in my flow. That's just my way of trying not to be boring. I hate boring and simple flow patterns...another reason why I abandoned radio hip-hop. I shouldn't be able to predict a rapper's bars before the end of the bar itself. Smh...a lot of those so called "artists" are real lazy with the creativity. Imagine if Van Gogh was lazy with paintings....no detail...no color...better yet no emotion, no vision.

No emotion and no vision is part of the problem with mainstream music these days. Well...I refuse to add on to that problem.

Granted that the project I'm working on won't be clean far as content or curse words...but it'll be real. No stunting about money, diamonds, sex and women. More about problems I've had, past events that I've never shared with anyone, current events, hidden thoughts, etc. Warning, it is sort of an hippie project....meaning damn near every song you can smoke a blunt to...but the content is not about "smoking weed"...but I do touch upon that subject. Overall it's an positive project...well, there is a few tracks where I just vent off angry....at least it's creative/poetry like angry though.

Oh...I'm also making an "radio friendly" version of the project...where I creativity hide the curse words or edited them out without killing the mood of each song. But the profanity isn't as heavy as I make it seem. I don't think I've said the word "fuck" even once yet. The "nigga" word is purposely avoided. I'm pass that stage. So far just a few "shit's" and "damn's" lol.

Bout to try this sleep thing again. Politic w/ y'all soon.

She has bars...she can flow...she keeps it thoro (no reckless shit)...I love her choice in beats...I couldn't ask more. After watching her music vid (located at the bottom of this post) I went further and downloaded her latest project "The Transition"...and I was not let down.

To my surprise this year more than a few folks have asked me to re-up this project. To me this is my worst...mainly cause I hate myself for using 8-bit samples. Granted it was only 3 beats that were 8-bit samples but...I don't know. It's just how I feel.

The one thing about this project is that I made it in 3 days while in some of the worst physical pain I've been thru. (fibromyalgia muscle disorder)

After hearing the track for myself after I made my version of the sample, I felt that I could no longer use the beat for what I attendant to. So rather than letting it sit in the vault I decided to release it as a tribute.....

Managed to pull me a job today. It's better than nothing. Washing and detailing cars. Part time but I get paid at the end of each day. I start tomorrow at 8am and get off at 8pm.

Real talk, if these idiot parking enforcers from my previous neighborhood hadn't towed my Buick last year I could of had 1 of 3 jobs to pick from just based on driving. One of then being at Domino's which was my last job before they jacked up the insurance rate and I didn't have the money to make the adjustment to the insurance plan.

So I got an idea...hang with this job and stack some bread to cop a car and roll back to Domino's. Fuck it. That is if someone from these previous applications that I filled out doesn't finally hit me up with a full-time job or at least something better than this part time detail joint. Working at Domino's was the shit. A check every other week while getting paid off tips at the end of the night and driving around...not having to stay at the store all work-day. Not to mention I really dig their cheese pizzas...smh

Live From ATL...

It's been a week since I've moved to ATL from northern Virginia...an area I hate with a passion. Too many bad experiences...mainly with people. I blame VA for the terrible outlook I have on people today. It destroyed the side of me that gave everyone a chance of good faith rather than playing chess moves with each person I meet. Which only built my "trust no one" factor to an obsessive standard.

Atlanta is cool. I did the vibe and the people here. For that fact people actually speak to you when walking pass you or while roaming thru a store. A lot of active music artists as well. I met my 1st female beat-smith/producer on Sunday. She's ill. I admire the way she uses synthesizers to make original beats. Her style is not one I prefer but I like her creativity and her directness. It's inspiring.

The only stress I'm having is me being in a hurry to find a job. It's only been a week so I guess I'm just...ugh...whatever. Once I find a job then my brain can relax. Unfortunately the stress part has been clipping my creative side with music. I'm still making music but the output rate has slowed down. It's not where I want it to be...or rather what it use to be. I'll post more soon...when the vibe is corrected.

Was in the middle of some early morning crate diggin'...which I normally do at 1am-6am but for some odd reason my sleep schedule has went back to normal. Anyway, found this funk/soul band called Brothers Unlimited and got a hold of an hard to find album entitled "Who's For The Young" released in 1970. I like it! "Life, Dreams, Death" is my favorite song. This is the type of 70's soul/funk that I wish I could find on command but it happens on my lucky nights...well, mornings in this case. It Is What It Is...

On and off cloudy day...fits my description of health.
Little bit of everything hurts. Arms, right shoulder, thigh muscles, my finger joints, both knees, mild headache. Feel like an old car battery...not quite dead, still have a spark but could use some serious recharging instead of a jump-start from time to time.

After the week of some of the worst arm pain I've had in a awhile...whatever I'm going thru now doesn't bother me as much except that it's interfering with the recording of my vocal project. Or-though I've made some of my more "sensitive" beats between last night and night before.

A few weeks ago...alittle bit before I got my internet back, I posted my "SoultapeLvL4" beat-tape and sent it to 8 blogs and websites that normally post my music. None have posted the new beat-tape. That kind of thru me for a downer. I know I've been gone for awhile but.....
ahh.....who cares.

Kind of made me feel like maybe I fell off production wise. I will admit, I've haven't been releasing what I consider my better results of production. I've been either putting them to the side for my project or giving them to my artists(P.A., Justin Allen, Al.N York, etc), but doesn't mean the beats on that last beat-tape aren't considered by me as good work. Most of them are just old, I like to keep fresh material on deck for projects in progress. Once a beat is two months old without being put to use, it falls into a certain folder of mine and I come back to them later.

Yesterday was the 14 year anniversary of the death of 2Pac Shakur. So naturally I was blasting my favorite 'Pac music in the headphones or in my mother's Scion xB....that has six 10 inch sub-woofers. I uploaded a few new tracks into the music player on to the right of the blog...including the 2Pac sampled beat "Me Vs. The World"...that's also on the "SoultapeLvL4" beat-tape.

Going to try and lay down. Maybe I'll wake up feeling better enough to continue recording.

My arm has been hurting for the pass week (muscle disorder)...at least I'm getting stuff done. Almost done w/ my 1st vocal/rap project.
I can say one thing, if you don't like my flow...well at least the beats are banging.

These are my best works in production. I've held on to maybe about...umm...70% of them for a few months and the other 30% are recent productions. I finished the cover art above a few hours ago. After that I knocked out a beat which will be turned into the 1st single as well the 1st track at the beginning of the project.

I've finally decided to stick with the "Don't Say I Didn't Warn U" title. It fits the work I've done so far. I just hope it's accepted well and that someone enjoys it.

About to see if I can finally fall asleep. Btw...any suggestions on new blogs to visit? I'm way out of touch and I need to reach out and politic with more fellow music heads.

I have a habit of making graphix on the spot of an idea....sometimes it works out...other times...well whatever.
I have a folder of beats on my hard-drive that I've been sitting on for awhile. Trying to figure out what to do with them. These certain beats have a Dilla-inspired feeling. One or two of them might make my vocal project. The rest will go to a beat-tape project that came from the idea of this cover I made last week. A full beat-tape laced up w/ a J-Dilla inspired sound and feel. When I will release it is the part I'm not sure of. Maybe when I build a decent internet buzz I suppose.

On segahamilton.blogspot.com, Charles Hamilton posted that he needed a cover for his "Sonic The Hamilton 2: HD" project so I came up with this cover art for it. Apparently some one else had the same idea far as image....and turning the image black&white...and he picked their's instead. Still...here's mine for those who may want to use it if you dig Hamilton's music.

I never thought much of fortune or the word of fortune until the word artist was put into the same sentence. A little more than a year ago I was at my most possible low. To cut a long story short, out of motivation from the music I was listening to at the time (J-Dilla, Joe Budden and Charles Hamilton)...I downloaded the FL Studio 7 production program (a.k.a. Fruity Loops). That was the best thing to ever happen in my life. It's a way to vent out my emotion, stress and creative ideas. It's also something that I can succeed in and also finally make my mother proud of me instead of the child hood disappointments I created.

That earlier statement is sooo ill. I mean, I've always been a little artist in my own mind. My child-hood drawings I use to do damn near every day.

Wait....lol....now that I think about it...

As a child I would hear songs from movies, video games and etc....and then beat-box my own little beat over the song. Hah...even when I was a child I was sampling music.....that is extremely TRILL.

Rather if it was luck or if it was just meant to be....I got my fortune...or for what I consider my fortune. And I got it from being an artist.

That was a nice overthinking session, wouldn't you say? lol

I've been battling with the idea of letting another beat-tape loose on to the internet. I mean, the beats are copyrighted but I hate the idea of someone using a beat of mine without giving the proper credit to the producer (me). That's all I ask for in return for those releases.

My boy Rob that I've been cool with since middle school was politicking with me last weekend and one of his people who raps has heard a few of my joints and wants to use a specific beat for a project. He's willing to credit me as a writer and/or engineer...but he wants the production credit.......to my beat....a beat I produced, not him. No.....No again.....a Hell No if needed. For what reason u would want to take credit for something u didn't create, I have no idea. But that....is like asking me for a piece of my soul. No...making music is the only thing I have in my life to take pride in. The idea of letting someone take credit for my work by itself makes my temper go into over-drive.

Anyway.....for those who ask for it, here's another beat-tape. My vocal project is still being worked on....a long with a few other things. I'll be back to blogging on the regular after one of the following...
1.) I get my cell-phone and internet back on.

Life Without Phone Or Internet

Rough....need I say more?
This is the reason of my quiet time. Using the library computers are better than nothing but it limits me far as my music(finding music to sample, downloading new beat-kitts, keeping up with music, spreading out new music, getting in touch with my other artists other than my main artist, etc). It's hard enough to get on a free computer when I can.

The music came to a stop for a moment mainly because of depression and no new inspirations. Thankfully my girlfriend knocked me back into my place and I've been knocking out a few beats again...mainly using samples that I've already flipped but from my early days of beat making. Knocked out a beat with no samples that is pretty nice, just gotta re-tune it....I don't like how it sounds on the system of the car(Six 10 inch subs, mind you). The dude P.A. is doing good far as I know...which is my only artist I've heard from since the death of my internet.

No one is hiring here....and it's way pass pissing me off. Hopefully if things go in the direct that P.A. and I are looking at, I'll be in ATL sooner or later. I hear finding a job isn't as much as a problem....at least better than my chances here. If you not goverment involved in this area, no one is looking to hire you. Specially being all the college students have snatched all the summer jobs.

Tried selling studio time but the local artists I've been speaking with apparently weren't serious enough. I've had 3 no-shows. smh....whatever, there lost and I will double the charge if they come across me and asked for studio time again.

And some of the comments that I read were pointing at the idea that every person that is "broke" is an idiot or a crack-head.

Each person on this Earth lives a life, some harder than others, some easier. A person shouldn't be judged on what's in there wallet.

Daring Concepts Vs. Music

A comment I left on someone's blog earlier...
"Dare to be different....easy.
but to dare someone to accept it.....1up"

...this is a weird & uncomfortable battle. Reasons why is, as a music artist you should dare yourself to be different with your art & then dare the public to accept it. BUT...a different style or sound in music doesn't automatically make it "good music". That's where the problem is located, in figuring out what's different but yet still good music.

Maybe it's because the concept is laid out too simple. Example, not everything that is different is good. I'm starting to feel that the more time you put into certain projects or ideas, the better the outcome will be. I've had unfinished beats that have sat in my FL9 program for 7-8 months and randomly one day I'll trip upon a beat & catch something that I hadn't heard before, finish out the beat and have a nice gem.

Anyway, ...the "daring someone to accept it" part, now that I've put more thought into it, that's done on the regular with radio stations and music video channels. Just so happens the quality of music that they're daring you to accept is garbage. Or maybe that's just my opinion. Value or reject it.

You can take that in many directions. Seems to me no matter how good the intention is, a negative can strike. Maybe the good of the intention is so blinding that anything else can't be seen until it's too later. Normally that too late part happens in the after-effects of the hell you just went through.

Maybe it isn't the good intentions itself...but the person that it's for.(girlfriend/boyfriend,friends,business,etc) Either way, watch early to see how the road paves out before you wreak after the fact that you passed the Dead End sign.

Soul Of Nujabes

Musically enter legendary Japanese Hip-Hop DJ & producer Jun Seba a.k.a. Nujabes.
His productions throw you into a zone instantly. If your into any anime, I'm sure you've heard of Samurai Champloo...he was one of the 4 major producers of the entire sound track to the anime series. His style is unmistakable if you were to hear it in the soundtrack of the show.

Unfortunately in February 26, 2010, Nujabes was involved in a traffic accident upon exiting the Shuto Expressway in Tokyo, Japan. He passed away later that night in the hospital at the age of 36.

Nujabes productions were soul-touching...even though a good amount of his work is to be released in the near future, he will be deeply missed in the heart of true Hip-Hop fans.

Below is a short interlude that Nujabes produced for the Samurai Champloo sound track. I love that instrumental....I hate that its extremely short....so a few months a go I decided to do something about it and re-flip it...put my own little twist to it. A Nujabes tribute you can call it. Peep the original and give mines a shot.

Here's the cover art that I knocked out for P.A. ...I think it came out clean compared to my previous cover arts. The pic was took from the set of photos done by Karin Burton , click the link to see more of her work. Even with P.A.'s "lack of personality" facial expressions, the shoot still came out great.

We're about 1-2 songs away from closing up the project. We kinda want that one more banger before we decide it's finish. Compared to the last project we did...there is no comparison. It's pure hip-hop...the lyrical ability, the content...the production of course lol. It finally sounds like we have our own sound as a collective.

May 28th will be the release.
Shout out to Kid Nice at undergroundcharizma.com for posting the 1st track leak. All we've gotten back is good feedback from the 1st track. Everyone who's heard it have said great things about it. Good...being that I don't consider the song as one of the better or best tracks. No fillers...at all.

Being that I don't have a lot of interesting events popping off, it kind of makes me fall back on blogging. I mean, most artists, producers, etc who blog have fans...I have none. Then again, if that was the issue I would be doing it for attention...both blogging & music.

The music....hell no, I do that for me. That's what kept me sane with the little sanity I have left. The blog....expression....I can say blahblahasscuntmuncher & no one can stop me HaHaHaHaaaaa.

The Silence Shall Be Worth It...

OK.....yea....I know, been kinda m.i.a. for a month. Was having internet issues & working hard on two projects. One being my own, the other for P.A.

The last project from P.A. that we released...I admit. I hated it. I still do.
P.A. has this vision of his...he wants to mix all genres into one. I'm like it's pointless. There's a reason why we have genres...not everyone likes the same type of music. So that's what the last project turned into. And might I add it was the last project I did beats without putting my soul into it & I will never do that again. In other words it was forced. He gave me a sample....I flipped....for better or worst. Ugh.

I kinda have to be slim on the details, but last month P.A. got invited to ATL by a well known named A&R for a one-on-one artist development training session. They told him what he needs to work on & focus on far as music. WELL!!....WOULD YOU HAVING TO FIND OUT that they said for him to focus strictly on a Hip-Hop sound and to stick with my direction of production......mine.....my direction....like I told him before....lol. Sorry, that was apart of my "I told you so" moment for him. I told him his sound was every where & that he should let me produce a project completely in my direction to show him what I mean. Well after he got back from ATL, the agreement was made for my project idea & for him to use what he has learned & developed as a lyricist.

The project is called "Accept My Sound"...completely produced & mixed by Gambitt4Aces (me...duh). It's 80% done as of now, just putting the finishing touches on it. We did a photo-shoot for the project last Friday...which is where that pic came from that I posted in this post. I'm going to make the cover-art tomorrow. We want to make a big statement to the folks in ATL next month when P.A. goes back for more training.

To say at least, I was very surprised of what he had to offer compared to a large sum of rappers from Louisiana that I have spoken with about music. Meaning, the music he makes is the quality of the true form of Hip-Hop...instead of the well known form that it is currently in. The Hip-Hop heads of New Orleans have a new & valuable threat to add to the town's high-caliber list by the name of Lyriqs.

Exotic Trance

Assassin With Son

Last night I got lucky and found a gem. The soundtrack to one of my favorite movies, "Shogun Assassin".

The movie's outlook is a Shogun who grew paranoid as he became senile sent his ninjas and sons to kill his #1 samurai. They failed but did kill the samurai’s wife. The samurai swore to avenge the death of his wife and roams the countryside with his toddler son in search of vengeance. Apparently they made 4 sequels but I've only seen the 1st one. The 1st movie is rare enough but the sequels are even harder to find.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of synthesizer used instrumentals but this soundtrack gets a pass. I wouldn't of thought you could make great melodies like the ones I've heard on the soundtrack. Needless to say....I'm sampling the hell out of this soundtrack.

The Rise & Fall...

1st, I would like to thank everyone who commented in the last post. All input was very useful. I've updated the music-player with a few beats, I'll throw some more up this weekend. Download the SoultapeLvLZer0 to your right if you haven't already.

"SoultapeLvL3: The Burning Ace" will be my last beat-tape which I will release sometime during the summer. Reasons why are mainly I want to focus on giving my best to the artists I've been lucky to work with rather than just throwing out beats for any or everyone to use. And I often fear people not giving me the proper credit. I work hard on my music....someone claiming it as there work just breaks my heart thinking about it. Also, if all goes well with my plan for a release this month...there really won't be a need for me to just put out beat-tapes....but the sound of "Soultapes" will continue in my vocal-projects.

"Code 4:20" ...my vocal-rap project...title subject to change as the project progresses. But as the current title hints, it will be a smoker-based-project...w/ soul of course. If this goes the way I want it to go, the "Soultape" series will pick up from here. So as I said, the title may change.
I'm aiming for 10-12 tracks, completely produced by me. Most of the production is complete, it's the recording I have to knock out. The thing that is messing with me is that I could possible lose the little sanity I have left while writing and recording. What most people don't find out about me is that, it's not that I cannot write, rhyme or rap. It's that I don't normally take it upon myself to focus on it. Making beats relaxes me. I get lost in the music rather then visiting thoughts that are in my head. The "visiting thoughts in my head" part is what I fear. I have a lot of hidden anger and issues stored. And writing makes it all come back.

A few months ago Precyse and myself was toying with the idea of doing a project together with both of us flowing over a hand-picked selection of Fat Jon beats. We recorded two songs, the 1st was ok. Then the 2nd one....I blacked. That's the side that worries me. I lost my composure within seconds. I became very angry. That dark side has gotten me into a lot of trouble and I've hurt a few people who I intended no harm in my past. Granted, I was in pain while recording and I feel that's what might have made me enter that vibe but before the pain was as bad as it is at my current age, back in my teens I wasn't in as much pain or as often but I would find myself in that dark vibe. I've worked hard to not go that route anymore, but that fucker finds ways to drag me back in. In the past, people in general made me that way.....the physical pain of today is like a broken temper switch that cuts on with or without the help of people. ::Sighs:: ....but anyway. I'm always getting the push to do this project from associates, artists that I work with, family/true friends, old friends that have heard me flow from my teenage years....even my mother. So I'm going to try it. But...........

Music Confusion

For awhile I've been having this constant battle with my music rather if I should focus more on my southern style of beats and stick strictly with my underground NY/ Dilla inspired style. Many people have been like, mix them together. In my opinion some arts just don't mix...at least not all of the time. I've had a few beats were it's kind of sounded like both styles. More or less than the other but both.

Recently a few artists (rappers, if you will) have been reaching out asking me to send them some works. I sent one person a beat Saturday night and I feel it's one of my best...no response from this cat usually means he passed on it cause he has accepted my other beats. Point being, the beats that I feel are superb are the ones that usually get looked over but the ones that I don't vibe with as much or maybe even dislike are the ones that people are hyped about. Is there something wrong with my ears? smh

In that case like as some rappers have to "dumb down there lyrics" so there audience will catch up I'm feeling like I need to maybe...."dumb down my beats". How the hell would I do that I couldn't tell. Or maybe I just haven't really found my audience yet. I got a few people here and there that dig a major part of my works...but still...

Experiencing Jimi Hendrix In 2010

I've managed to get a hold of the new Jimi Hendrix album, "Valleys Of Neptune". Hearing it gives you the impression that it was recorded yesterday. I've never heard Hendrix sound so great, clear, detailed. It's the way his music should have been mastered after all these years.
Granted, the 12 song album is bound together with a few unreleased studio tracks, an alternate version of "Fire", and a few studio recorded versions of songs that were only heard in his performances in the live-concert album releases. Regardless, this is an album to listen to. Hearing Hendrix in this quality is like listening to him for the 1st time all of over again...a brand new experience. I've found this article written about the album, it's a good read to get an better idea of the album for those who may be unsure on purchasing it.

And the Hendrix-news only gets better...on the way are remastered versions of Hendrix's classic albums. After hearing the quality of the new album, it's a must I get a hold of those. This type of treatment for quality of Hendrix's music is way over due. I need to get my pops a CD player...I bet he would have a hell of a moment listening to Hendrix in the quality I've heard him in.(My father is a big Hendrix fan...the 1st taste of music I've ever heard was Hendrix thanks to the old man.)

Along with J-Dilla of course, these producers have had a big impact on my style. The technique and the importantly but slept on element...the choice of sample. I get lucky every so often (plus w/ the help of fellow music lovers, you know who you are) in finding samples as soulful, reaching and touching as this one. It captures you. One who cannot feel this is one without heart or a soul. I'm going to have to step my sample-digging-game up.

This explains to a science in my opinion what is "true" music. Not the radio-money-push-disorientated-chaos they label as music. If it doesn't come from the soul, it's a mere imitation.

It's like having some Beats By Dr.Dre headphones that cost $300, then you find some headphones that "look" like the B.B.D.D's but are only $80. You plug them in and the quality isn't as great....that's the reason why there so cheap....the importance of the product isn't there. Sort of like the soul that is suppose to be into the songs on the radio...it isn't there. If music from the radio of today was to be turn into a human body, a heart would not come standard.

When "in love" your mind reacts different compared to how you would normally carry yourself when your single...or just not at that stage with that certain some one.

One thing that gets me is when these "lovers" who are actually "lusters" go completely nuts on Valentine's Day. If your truly in love, there shouldn't be a difference in the way you treat your lover on that certain day compared to all the other previous days. What?...you love him or her extra because it's V-Day?

2/10/2006: The Day Dilla Left...

It's February 10th, again. It doesn't even feel like it was that long since Dilla passed away.
I never met him but I miss him as if I did. Dude really has changed and even to say...saved my life. I was on the verge of losing gravity of my reality right before figuring out about my muscle disorder (you would go crazy too if you were in pain for 24 years and the doctors always said you were fine smh)...during that stage Dilla's music ended up being therapy for me. I wish I could type up exactly how his music makes me feel but just like how I feel about my beats, some words only exist in sound format of music...not just lyrics.
With sound it's more than listening but to actual feel the vibe. Needless to say, Dilla had a very unique sound/vibe.

If it wasn't for Dilla's work I wouldn't be making beats/instrumentals....that's just what it is. Plain and simple. I've gotten into making music when I was in my teens but hearing Dilla made me put the seriousness, the passion, the soul into the creativity. So for that, I thank him every time I play a Dilla production.

Rest in peace, homie. And thank you.

The unnamed man was taken into police custody after authorities say he stole a car and then reported it stolen.
He also made sure to mention to police that he was robbed at gunpoint while trying to buy crack.

My boy 'Cyse got into a vibe to some of my older and recent beats. The outcome..."The Invisible Tape Of Soul" with Precyse venting and adding detail to my instrumentals.
I have to say, there are a few tracks on here that I've heard other people flow on and Precyse is the 1st one that I co-signed with him flowing over. Other cats...either they didn't fit the beat or they was completely off from the original vibe that I placed into the instrumental. 'Cyse kinda brought out the instrumentals.

Eddie Hazel Is Fire...

The song "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic...purely epic.
I 1st heard this song in the middle of the movie "Hell Ride"...it caught me instantly. It touches your soul. If it doesn't...you don't have a soul...point-blank.
I recently heard it again while watching a new episode of "House M.D." last week.
So I did some digging around and found it. The whole song is a guitar solo. It has so much pain into it. If something was to happen to me I want this song played at my funeral. In it's 10 minute play length, it captures all what I feel in my heart...this song alone could be the perfect soundtrack to my life.

When I 1st heard the guitar I thought automatically of Jimi Hendrix.
But apparently, the late Eddie Hazel was the poet behind the strings this time.
He blacked on that guitar...went in...murdered it....you get the picture I'm painting. He has become my 2nd favorite guitarist for this song, alone.

The Original Guitar Hero

In the beginning of last year...when I started to take making beats serious... I toyed with the idea of making an Jimi Hendrix instrumental-project. Beats made completely from Hendrix samples. At that time I was still learning my ways to making beats and needless to say, as a rookie-level-beatsmith at that time making a beat sampling Jimi Hendrix is far from an easy task.

However, at that time frame while I was battling with the idea, I did manage to flip one beat titled "Soul Of A Machine Gun"...sampled from Hendrix's "Machine Gun".
One of my favorite Hendrix songs. It's actually the earliest song I can remember from being a child. My father is a big Hendrix fan and that's what he played mostly. I can even remember him giving me tapes for my little boombox when him and my mother split up. I think I was age 4 or 5. Even younger I can remember in Baton Rouge, Louisiana sitting at the table in-front of his HUGE old-school boombox listening to his Hendrix tapes staring at the EQ lights jumping up and down on the stereo. I would do that for hours...while daddy lights up a joint in the back room hehehe.

Anyway...I finally took a shot at sampling the Hendrix song and it didn't come out too bad for the beginner level that I was at. But it wasn't enough for me to proceed with the full project.

A year later here I am again...toying with the same idea.
What's changed? My beat-making experience and skills has grown.
My "sampling-ear" has grown...meaning I'm hearing patterns that I hadn't heard the 1st time. I feel more comfortable in sampling Hendrix's songs. It seems....easier now.

I've flipped two other Hendrix tracks since my growth in beat making and I'm proud of them. They pretty much overwhelm my "Machine Gun" sample. One of those beats will be on my "SoultapeLvL2:Sound Therapy" project that I will either release this week or next week...depending on the cover art and when I find this final beat to finish off the project.

So...I'mma give it a shot. I have no idea for a title yet. I'm going to just go with the flow and see what happens. Another thing I'm trying to decide is if I will wait for the new Hendrix album to be release on March 9th and samples some of those tracks or just work with the classics.

Keep in mind that the beat is my early work but still worth a listen.

Mother Trades Child For Gun...WTF?

An Arizona woman is in police custody after authorities say that she tried to trade her 2-year-old daughter for a gun.

Police arrested 33-year-old Tanya Nareau of Mesa, Arizona after a friend confirmed that she gave them the child in exchange for a gun.

The friend also says that Nareua claimed they would “do a better job” raising the child.

She is facing charges for unlawful sale of a child and solicitation to possess a weapon by a prohibited person.

...word?....1st off, I didn't even know there was a law pertaining to "unlawful sale of a child". And how could you trade your own seed for...anything?
Shit....I would trade anything to get the two little ones that where mine but never born.
