Paralyzed Soul

The last two weeks have been rough. My muscle disorder...rather it may be Fibromyalgia or some other kind...has been very active. I don't know if it's the sudden weather change far as the snow, the wind, the cold air itself or if my muscles just like fucking w/ me. Whatever it is, it needs to end.

I've been going to the doctor as of late...thanks to my mother (I love you) to finally get this problem neutralized as much as possible. I might have a lever problem but I'm banking it was from all the Tylenols I was taking for the night pain that wouldn't let me sleep. Far as the muscle problem, not much has been found out but my Doc has put me on some meds for it...Amitriptyline or Elavil. I got them Friday morning and so far it hasn't done anything for pain. It has no problems knocking me to sleep though. It also leaves me feeling drained. If it wasn't for the neighbors blasting Spanish music...the kind when every beat is the exact same fucking pattern(hi-kick,low-kick,high-kick,low,kick)...I would of stayed knocked out for most of the day. Oddly enough I had to "420" just to get my balance back. I'm suppose to give my body a while to get use to the meds, so it's too early to judge.

But it has made music-production harder within just two days. I feel like I'm chained & bound by the medication(hence, the pic above). Mind you, the meds are suppose to be an anti-depressant & a relief for chronic pain....none of that shit has happen yet. Have you ever seen or known someone who was diagnosed with A.D.D. and then was prescribed Ritalin? And once the Ritalin is taken, the person seems like someone has stolen their active energy. Yea, kinda of feeling like that...just drained.

I hope this smooths out soon...I still have a beat-folder I'm finishing up for Signif and the "Music Colored Red" project w/ Justin. Both are very close to being complete. So...if these meds keep draining me down I'll just "420" my balance back and get to work. After burning one earlier tonight I managed to get 3 beats done.

Ahh, my left ear just kicked back in. Yesterday after I took my 1st pill from the meds, my left ear got damn near def...and it just suddenly un-plugged itself...*shrugs*...it works now, fuck it.

Been trying to keep the blog as active as possible. But just know any time that I'm quiet...it usually means I'm head-deep into finishing music....my other medicine.

Trendy Ignorance

So I'm on twitter yesterday, talking to a few people and pushing the project out and then I start seeing these #ThingsThatBrokePeopleDo trendy topic comments pop up. Like really? And some of the comments that I read were pointing at the idea that every person that is "broke" is an idiot or a crack-head.

Each person on this Earth lives a life, some harder than others, some easier. A person shouldn't be judged on what's in there wallet.

You know what, I got one for you....

#ThingsThatBrokePeopleDo ...make better music than "rich people".
Whatever, we're all just people. Your dollar isn't no different than mine. Apparently my mind is.

Daring Concepts Vs. Music

A comment I left on someone's blog earlier...
"Dare to be different....easy.
but to dare someone to accept it.....1up"

...this is a weird & uncomfortable battle. Reasons why is, as a music artist you should dare yourself to be different with your art & then dare the public to accept it. BUT...a different style or sound in music doesn't automatically make it "good music". That's where the problem is located, in figuring out what's different but yet still good music.

Maybe it's because the concept is laid out too simple. Example, not everything that is different is good. I'm starting to feel that the more time you put into certain projects or ideas, the better the outcome will be. I've had unfinished beats that have sat in my FL9 program for 7-8 months and randomly one day I'll trip upon a beat & catch something that I hadn't heard before, finish out the beat and have a nice gem.

Anyway, ...the "daring someone to accept it" part, now that I've put more thought into it, that's done on the regular with radio stations and music video channels. Just so happens the quality of music that they're daring you to accept is garbage. Or maybe that's just my opinion. Value or reject it.

Burning After Effects

Good intentions...the road to hell was paved with them.

You can take that in many directions. Seems to me no matter how good the intention is, a negative can strike. Maybe the good of the intention is so blinding that anything else can't be seen until it's too later. Normally that too late part happens in the after-effects of the hell you just went through.

Maybe it isn't the good intentions itself...but the person that it's for.(girlfriend/boyfriend,friends,business,etc) Either way, watch early to see how the road paves out before you wreak after the fact that you passed the Dead End sign.

Music Confusion

For awhile I've been having this constant battle with my music rather if I should focus more on my southern style of beats and stick strictly with my underground NY/ Dilla inspired style. Many people have been like, mix them together. In my opinion some arts just don't mix...at least not all of the time. I've had a few beats were it's kind of sounded like both styles. More or less than the other but both.

Recently a few artists (rappers, if you will) have been reaching out asking me to send them some works. I sent one person a beat Saturday night and I feel it's one of my best...no response from this cat usually means he passed on it cause he has accepted my other beats. Point being, the beats that I feel are superb are the ones that usually get looked over but the ones that I don't vibe with as much or maybe even dislike are the ones that people are hyped about. Is there something wrong with my ears? smh

In that case like as some rappers have to "dumb down there lyrics" so there audience will catch up I'm feeling like I need to maybe...."dumb down my beats". How the hell would I do that I couldn't tell. Or maybe I just haven't really found my audience yet. I got a few people here and there that dig a major part of my works...but still...

The Alleged Lovers

"Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence."-H. L. Mencken

True if you think of it.
When "in love" your mind reacts different compared to how you would normally carry yourself when your single...or just not at that stage with that certain some one.

One thing that gets me is when these "lovers" who are actually "lusters" go completely nuts on Valentine's Day. If your truly in love, there shouldn't be a difference in the way you treat your lover on that certain day compared to all the other previous days. What?...you love him or her extra because it's V-Day?

No I'm not single so open-mind-haters you can stop right there.
I'm just calling a spade a spade.

Breaking The Mask

My opinion of people...

Everyone in this world wears a mask. On each person's mask are drawings of artwork, details and designs of the person behind the mask. Those are the things that the individual wants the world to see openly...the good ideas that they consider makes them unique or just an likable person in general rather it may be there skills, talents, personality traits, or current history(present or recent).

Behind that mask is the true face...with its imperfections, scars, and age (the actual history, past, present or recent). The question...does what the mask represents match what the face represents?

To truly find out you either have to...
1.)Break the person's mask (recognize the lies or half-truths)
2.)Let the person remove there own mask (be real with you)

Don't you hate when you get to know a person to find out there nothing what you thought they were or what they advertised to be? I'm fed up with it to be honest.

Anyway, a change has just happen. Bout to put this blog into use other than music as I over think and share. Time to go-in on the world, as raw as reality is.

My City (smh)

This is one of the very few reasons I don't miss Baton Rouge. I miss my city in so many ways but this is far from one of them. Bad thing is my grandmoms and pops still stay there and not in the safe part neither...the few parts that are safe.
It would be a dream if this music shit would to black into something big and I can get them out of there. Nothing is impossible.

'O4 Throw-back Pic. My custom airbrushed Louisiana shirt.
The bottom of it says "Swamp Ni99a"...smh, me back in my ignorant days of immaturity.

Shoot The Damn Fox(For Calling Obama A Racist)

I'm was so Anti-Fox News before but after this I have officially 1up on hating Fox News. I got questions...

-Are they saying random shit to get attention?

-Do they believe "if we say so, they will believe because we're FOX"?

-Who needs to be fire for some change to happen over in that network?

....this shit is going too far pass the boarder lines, I'm so shocked I'm almost speechless.

BTW, I seen this at DealWithNoDeal.com 1st. Check them out if you love HipHop and that fresh underground HipHop...like my work for example ;)

Speaking Of Racial Profiling...

Ok, this kinda hit me when I was responding to a comment in the last post left by Little Miss Knobody. Shout out to her by the way, I love politicking with other music lovers and reality thinkers. Also check her blog(as I often do). its very interesting
chiefofaffections.blogspot.com/

Okay here we go!
U know what's even more messed up? Being racially profiled as the wrong ethic group!

EX: The pigs up this way always think I'm Spanish....I'm not Spanish damnit, I'm fuckin Cajun but I will settle for being assumed African American which I am also...not everyone that's light-skin is Spanish!! I always get this shit here since I moved to Northern VA 3-4 years ago.

What's even WORST...in some parts of Louisiana...not often...but more often when I would visit Mississippi to see my older brothers and sisters...people will assume I'm white all of a sudden.

Like, you really can't tell that I'm mixed with something?
I'm yellow like a fuckin' hi-lighter marker but I'm white? I even had my damn braids at that time but I'm white?!

What element of fuckary is that?!?!

I hate ignorant people. Bottom line I'm Creole...Cajun may be more familiar to some.
Get it right.

"..but the bitch said I'm hot, I'm like nah bitch I'm blazing.
Like what the fuck you expect, I'm a muthafuckin Cajun"-Lil Wayne

Obama Calling It How He See's It

Obama picked back up some coo points with me on this in issue. Racial profiling has always been an issue in America and now finally a president even see's it and speaks about it. Then the guy at the end tried to pull Obama's card like he wasn't going to stand for what he said....I admit, I'm surprised the he didn't back-pedal in his words.

On some more reality to that, Racial profiling has gotten worst since Obama became president. This needs to end. Give it up.

Sidenote:
I want to apologize to my peoples who follow or pass thru my blog for the 2nd to last post which I deleted. I shouldn't air out other peoples dirt and with that pic I posted. I was still heated. No one has said anything but I felt that it was over baord of me to do all that. Sorry folks if I did offend anyone.

Project In Near Future,Justin Allen,Completely Produced By Gambitt.

Beening goin' in on the "issue" of P.A.'s joint all last week until the weekend came and my fibromayagal decided to bother me. My right shoulder kept feeling like someone was poking me with hot needle. So I loaded up on the meds and got good again by Sunday night. I started on a beat aweek ago for my boy Justin....got side track with P.A.'s project and didn't finish it....until night before last. So I finally sent to him...apologized for the lateness, cause I offered to send him a few beat and then the project popped up.
Sent it to dude yesterday morning and got it back last night....properly blessed.

Hearing the joint makes me want to try and balance out two projects at once but I got my focus on P.A.'s joint 1st cause we been politicking about this for a minute.
But like I did this week I'mma try and side a beat or so between the fast progress with P.A.'s project.

But its coming(Jae Alz/Gambitt project), we spoke alittle bit about it and he says its on me. My dude, I got you.

Music has provided me to find those who have the same passion for music like I do.
I knew Justin from high school but I didn't know how serious he took his music until recently. I often say this but I got mad respect for ol'boy.

Same goes for my dude P.A....me and this guy is just on this same crazy wave length with the music and just life in general. In a previous life me and this nigga met before...I can't explain it but I'm just weird like that. You just don't meet people and have a quick understanding of each other like that.

And the comes from a dude that has a rule:
The more friends you have now, the more enemies you'll have later

Excuse the vent.
More music coming soon.

This Is My Deal With The M.Jackson Sampling...

Picture kidnapped from Nahright.com, via P.A.(thanks homie)

As I spoke about before, yesterday within an hour I got 5 different text messages asking me to make beats using Michael Jackson samples.

My point....as the picture above shows. Its been done.....ALOT.
And that's not even all the songs that's in the picture...there about maybe 70+ more.
I bet whatever that at least every serious hip-hop producer has at least sampled one Michael Jackson song including myself.

P.A. and I was politicking about this earlier and we both acknowledge that in a way this kills the motivation/inspiration to make an MJ sample beat. We (speaking for myself & P.A.) get the motivation to do music to do what hasn't been done. That's the main combo for my beats, sample the un-sample or at least the not-as-much sampled.

So, I'm not saying that I won't do a MJ sample beat but I gotta be seriously motivated. Cause lets face it...sampling MJ is way pass old-art. I love the dude and miss him as well, child hood was always surrounded with some Mike Jackson tunes.
I'm sticking to what brought me into making beats....

...doing something different.

Opinions or thoughts are welcome.

North Korea Talkin' Shit...

...I'm keeping my ear out for this one. I don't think they gonna make that step.
But then again, we as Americans got this whole "Try Us & see what happens" swag.
We kinda look like bullies to some countries. But I be damn if Korea wants to be the anti-bully.

Nervous

On some real shit...

I'm nervous as fuck about putting this project out.
This shit is different.....that's not usual a bad thing with me but I don't want to get that response like this shit is throwed-off different, like...not understandable different.

I don't know, maybe I'm thinking too much about it. Maybe alittle over-whelmed.
6 months ago, I couldn't do what I do now. I haven't been doing this for a long period of time or nothing. Not seriously anyway. I wish I would of been more serious about it the 1st time I touched FL Studio 3-4 years ago. I wasn't inspired back then like I became not so long ago. Its the Dilla beats, 9th Wonder beats, Charles Hamilton beats that gave me the motivation to be different and try what I had in my head.

Charles Hamilton said it best when he was talking about Dilla...
"Dilla wasn't afraid to take chances"

....while making the "Soultape" project, I went in with the same mind state. Go for broke....like Dilla would.

Here's the beat/track-listing so far for
SoultapeLvL1:Smoke,Music,Illusions.

4 Ace Assassin
Soul Of A Machine Gun
Epic Afflictions
Gambitt Playz With Ether
Summer Smoke
Old Friend From '96
Soul Medicine
Uncertainty
Interstate 420
It Is What It Isn't
Night, Rain & Pain
EWGF(Electric Wind God Fist)
GamxJae Feat. Jae Alz(4 Ace Assassin Beat)

...the main element about this project that worries me alittle is that there really isn't a certain style that's link to all beats....other than that there all "soulful".
I mean, some have a southern feel. Others, NY underground type, others....N/A lol

One thing I will include in the back-cover is a 2Pac quote.
"You don't have to bump this but please respect it"

I'm out 4 the night.....for real this time lol

Adding On 2 Motivation(Nas & C-Sick)

I found this on 2dopeboyz
Peep ol'boys story and how he got to work with Nas. The beat he made for Nas is ill...
...and the track.
Nas - Film(Prod.C-Sick)

Props and respect to the homie C-Sick.
Stories like these gives me more focus.
And all he used was FL Studio, no hardware. Just like myself....except with the recent Yamaha that was giving to me.

Back to my zone while finishing up the project....

Confidence and Acceptance Has Arrived

Confidence
I juiced up the Zune and went for my normal walk to zone and do some free thinking. Vibing to the beats recently completed for the "Soultape" project.
This shit is sounding tight...like damn, this really ain't bad at all...kinda ill.

I'm my own worst critic. I have a hard time figuring out if something is nice or kinda off when it comes to my instrumentals. I can only tell if its "aiight" I guess. But I follow what feels good...and not everything that feels good sounds good. Well, at least not to everyone.

Lately I been feeling like I'm going in the right direction far as music. As instrumental gets completed I'm gettin more confident in myself. Like, now I KNOW if its ill or wack. And lately I been loving what I'm hearing from myself lately.
My sample game has step up big time.
Nigga, who samples the Transformer 2 score? This guy right here and that shit came out epic (Epic Inflictions). I'm even flipping music I heard as a child when I use to beat-box my own drum pattern over whatever I was feeling, rather if it was a video game or movie.

Acceptance
Since the beginning when I started to make beats seriously, I been having a problem with finding what style fits me. Southern or NY/Underground style beats.
At the beginning I couldn't flip a southern beat....I tried. Shit came out horrible. Then I just did with whatever I would feel. I like music with feeling...with soul. Shit that makes your back tingle at certain break-downs in a song. Now all of a sudden with me just doing what feels good, my style is more like southern soul.
I like that...."Southern Soul"....hmmmmmmm "SoultapeLvL2:Southern Soul"

EWGF

Sometimes I fall into a deep aura with certain beats I make. Sometimes its just the sample it self, then there are times when its what's behind the sample. Meaning or purpose or maybe the story that's behind the music. A character that the music represents. A character from a fighting game that holds a past/story that describes something inside you that you hide from average day to day people.

Quick Update While Zoning...

The "Soultape" project is shaping up nicely.
I'm still having an issue with the "belonging" thing...far as what my style maybe consider to be. A southern style or pro-underground hip-hop(up north style I guess)?
Either way, it is and will always be soulful. That's one thing I can say that isn't an issue. My style consist of soul.

You can also call it "late-night-blunt-burning-muzik".....that sounds like another chapter in the "Soultape" series.
::Makes mental note::

Shout out to Smitty for diggin' my vibe and for giving me alittle more motivation. As well as my boy P.A.....i tell you, it will be an Marvel Alliance one way or a few ways this summer. What up to the homie PrecYse. I peeped out a few of the downloads my dude, I'll ya some feedback tomorrow. Ayo A.Valentine, get @ me maine. Trying to hear what type of feel you goin for far as beats so when I finish this project I can send a few spec. ones to you and the rest of the folks that dig the work.

Music wise....real regonize real....music...and its a new gen. of creative creators.
So what I'm saying is....you like what u hear far as my instrumentals don't be afaird to politic with me. I'm for the music ya'll. Anyone that has a deep passion for music, politic with me.

Politic = Speaking to a person/ in agreement about something you both feel raw about.
I.E. = Music

I'm out for the night to get some rest. Got my samples lined up for me to start with in the morning and following in the direction that the project may lead me to. You can never steer in the wrong direction when music lays out the pathways. So I will ride the beat as I layout the tracks. I'm driving the soul train on those tracks.....ok, that was a bit much. I'm tired, what's your excuse lol
Be safe all ya'll.
